Some mildly interesting facts:
- I failed my A-levels first time around because I spent too much time playing guitar and messing about in small boats.
- I re-took my A-levels and went off to work as a research assistant for London Transport and BP, where I discovered the wonderful discipline of Chemical Engineering.
- I left work and went to study Chemical Engineering at the University of Surrey.
- I worked as a Chemical Engineer for Cargill, processing maize, and for Syncrude (Canada) processing tar sand.
- The world of academic research seemed appealing, so I went to University of Cambridge for a PhD in Particle Technology. Following this I took a post-doc position at the University of Surrey.
- I held a Lectureship and Senior Lectureship in Chemical Engineering at the University of Surrey.
- Throughout my academic life I have worked closely with industry, gaining valuable experience of the challenges and perspectives of technical companies.
- I left academia in 2010 to pursue my interest in training and facilitation for technical professionals.
- An Associate Tutor post at the University of Surrey enables me to connected to academic teaching and research.
- I do not spend enough time playing guitar and messing about in small boats.
